Photo Friday: Dreams come true in Oia, Santorini, Greece

White walls, blue doors, and nothing but endless sea. You know what I'm talking about - Santorini, the ultimate dream holiday destination.

Right at the very tip of Santorini is a little town named Oia, famed for its legendary sunsets. Every evening, crowds descend upon Oia to watch the sun turn the white walls golden. It's like it was taken right out of a luxury destinations travel magazine.

Look at all of that white!

All this picture-perfection comes with a price - rooms at the hotels in Oia cost a pretty penny. In fact, it seemed that there weren't anything but hotels in Oia - private swimming pools and caldera-views, deck chairs, umbrellas, and endlessly whitewashed walls!

Recognise this view?

It isn't an easy view to find. And when I say that, I mean that this view is literally down a whole bunch of winding back lanes that are not at all marked out and if you don't know exactly where you're headed it's pretty easy to not be able to find this view at all. Oh, and we were pretty much standing on someone's roof.

Tip - if you're going to Santorini and want this view, it's gonna take you a little bit, but check behind in all the back lanes. It's really secluded, so if you're one of the lucky ones who do get to find this spot, then great!

Of course, it's also a really great place to take your dreamy, romantic wedding shots.

Oia only really comes alive at sunset - in the daytime, the only people you'll find are holidaying couples lounging on their hotel deck chairs. It's only at sunset that tourists start arriving and the souvenir shops start opening.

Of course, at sunset, the sun bathes everything in gold and just turns the world into a dreamy wonderland and paradise. It makes even the most mundane things look incredible - just like this perfectly ordinary archway which suddenly turned into something extraordinary.

I was also really lucky, because I got to meet my flatmates Mariah and Mikayla! We've never travelled together despite living for a year together in Edinburgh, but I was so happy to be able to meet them here in Santorini.

Because, you know, that's what dreams are made of.
