Photo Friday: Midwinter Skye

Allt Coir a Mhadaidh, Glen Brittle, Isle of Skye
I used a one-week term break as an opportunity to travel back up into the Highlands, taking a 6-hour drive up through Pitlochry and Cairngorms into the spectacular Isle of Skye. An island on the west coast of highland Scotland, Skye is linked to the Scottish mainland by a short bridge.

In 2007, National Geographic Traveller voted Skye one of the most beautiful islands in the world - and it's very easy to see why.

The brilliant turquoise waters of Glen Brittle's Fairy Pools are the result of mineral dissolution from the Cuilin.
